Murder by any definition involves killing; however, there are varying degrees of murder in Colorado:

  • First-degree murder is deliberate and pre-meditated killing.
  • Second-degree murder is knowingly causing the death of another person.
  • Manslaughter is causing the death of another through reckless action or by assisting another person to commit suicide.
